Our Commitment to Equity in Midwifery Education

At Midwifery Wisdom, we are deeply committed to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in midwifery education. We warmly welcome midwives of color to our workshops and programs, recognizing that diverse representation is essential to the future of midwifery.

We define diversity as the broad spectrum of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, tribal and indigenous origins, culture, language, religion, age, ability, socioeconomic status, and lived experience. True inclusivity requires more than tolerance—it calls for active respect, engagement, and a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Why This Matters

Systemic inequities in healthcare lead to disparities in pregnancy and birth outcomes, disproportionately affecting communities of color. We believe midwives from the communities they serve are best positioned to provide culturally attuned care. Yet, midwifery in the U.S. does not fully reflect the diversity of the families it serves. We are committed to changing that.

Our Pledge

With humility and a commitment to deep listening, we strive to create an inclusive space where student midwives feel welcomed, represented, and supported—a space where they learn to provide care that is culturally affirming and respectful. Social justice is at the core of our work, and we welcome feedback to ensure we uphold this commitment.

To address financial barriers, we offer 20% off all workshops, courses, and products for midwives and student midwives of color.
